Hanoi (VNA) – The ongoing visit to Vietnam by a delegation of the India-Vietnam Solidarity Committee of West Bengal state contributes to consolidating the friendship, solidarity and people-to people diplomacy between Vietnam and India.

Vice President-cum-Secretary General of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Don Tuan Phong made the statement during his reception for the delegation led by the committee’s president Geetesh Sharma in Hanoi on June 12.

The visit takes place from June 10-22 as part of activities to mark the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-India diplomatic ties and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of strategic partnership between the two nations.

Phong said the visit presents an opportunity for the Vietnamese and Indian people, particularly young generations, nurture the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and India.

Geetesh Sharma, who has been visiting Vietnam for 26 times since the 1980s, described the Vietnam visit as a trip back to his home, saying that this visit will help him complete a book on Vietnam.

He said Vietnam holds huge potential to lure Indian tourists, suggesting that Vietnam should promote its unique tourism products such as Indian-styled historical relic sites in the central region.-VNA
