Vietnam, Indonesia agree to boost military cooperation

Vietnam and Indonesia have agreed to continue the training of officials, exchange of military delegations and sharing of rescue and research experiences, among other issues.

The agreement was reached between Vietnamese Defence Minister GeneralPhung Quang Thanh and visiting Indonesian Defence Minister PurnomoYusgiantoro at a meeting in Hanoi on May 10.

The host welcomed the official visit to Vietnam by the Indonesianhigh-ranking military delegation, expressing his belief that the visitwill contribute to enhancing mutual understanding and promoting thetraditional friendship between the two armies and peoples.

Minister Yusgiantoro thanked the Vietnamese Defence Ministry forhosting the fourth ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting (ADMM-4) and GeneralThanh and other senior military officials for their warm reception.

Also on May 10, General Thanh had bilateral meetings with heads ofASEAN defence delegations and the ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General to theADMM-4 that is taking place in Hanoi from May 10-13./.

Vietnam, Laos boost youth cooperation, education

The Lao Vice President asked the Central Committees of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) and the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union (LPRYU) to continue enhancing coordination to effectively implement their 2022–2027 cooperation agreement, especially in youth exchanges and education of younger generations about the countries’ traditional ties.
