Vietnam and Indonesia have agreed to continue the training of officials, exchange of military delegations and sharing of rescue and research experiences, among other issues.

The agreement was reached between Vietnamese Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh and visiting Indonesian Defence Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro at a meeting in Hanoi on May 10.

The host welcomed the official visit to Vietnam by the Indonesian high-ranking military delegation, expressing his belief that the visit will contribute to enhancing mutual understanding and promoting the traditional friendship between the two armies and peoples.

Minister Yusgiantoro thanked the Vietnamese Defence Ministry for hosting the fourth ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting (ADMM-4) and General Thanh and other senior military officials for their warm reception.

Also on May 10, General Thanh had bilateral meetings with heads of ASEAN defence delegations and the ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General to the ADMM-4 that is taking place in Hanoi from May 10-13./.
