Hanoi (VNA) –
Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai hosted a reception for Irish Minister of Education and Skills Richard Bruton on November 23, during which the two sides expressed their wish to expand cooperation in various fields.

Hai said he was glad to see growing relations between Vietnam and Ireland. More Irish companies have invested in Vietnam while many Vietnamese students have studied in Ireland.

The official thanked the Irish government and people for their assistance to Vietnam over the years, especially in poverty reduction, education-training, rural development, energy, and electricity.

The Irish community in Vietnam has made many contributions to the host’s society, Hai said.

For his part, Bruton said education plays an important role in the development of a country.

Like Vietnam, Ireland has sought to develop education to meet the requirements of industrial sectors, especially amid the current rapid growth of information technology.

The minister said he hoped the cooperation activities between Vietnam and Ireland will open up opportunities not only in education but also in various fields for mutual benefits.-VNA
