The head of the Committee for People’s Aspirations, a branch of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee, Nguyen Duc Hien, is currently leading a delegation on a six-day visit to Italy from June 27 to July 2.
Their visit is to discuss how both countries deal with complaints and accusations from members of the public and how they process petitions from voters and supervise the operations of authorised agencies that concern the Committee for People’s Aspirations.
The delegation met with the Standing Committee for Constitutional Affairs in the Italian Chamber of Deputies to discuss common issues that arise in both Vietnam ’s National Assembly and Italy ’s Parliament.
The Chairman of the Standing Committee for Constitutional Affairs, Bruno Donato, said that Italy and Vietnam have a long-standing, cooperative relationship. The two legislative bodies also have a foundation for cooperation due to previous meetings and visits made by senior diplomats from both countries.
He stressed that the Italian Chamber of Deputies is keen to strengthen relations with Vietnam , especially the country’s National Assembly.
Hien stated that in recent years, Vietnamese and Italian relations have been fervently promoted, adding that he hopes their relations will become stronger, especially as both countries will celebrate 40 years of diplomatic ties in 2013.
Earlier, the delegation met with officials from Lazio’s Regional Administrative Court and they are scheduled to meet with officials from Lazio’s Ombudsman for People’s Aspirations on July 2.-VNA
