A high-ranking delegation from the Ministry of Public Security led by Minister General Tran Dai Quang, Politburo member, are on their Japan visit from May 13-17.

During his stay, Minister Quang held talks with Japanese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Taro Aso, Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida, Chairman of the National Public Safety Commission Keiji Furuya, National Police Agency Commissioner General Tsuyoshi Yoneda, Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance Toshihiro Nikai and Vietnam-Japan Special Friendship Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro.

During the talks, Minister Quang expressed his delight at visiting Japan while the two countries are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

He proposed that leaders of Japan’s ministries and sectors support cooperation activities between his ministry and relevant agencies of Japan.

Expressing his pleasure at the development of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan, Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso said he hopes the ties between the two countries will be further promoted in both depth and width.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida affirmed that Japan attaches special importance to the cooperation with Vietnam .

During the talks with Chairman of the National Public Safety Commission Keiji Furuya and National Police Agency Commissioner General Tsuyoshi Yoneda, Quang said he is pleased at the sound development in cooperation to combat crime between his ministry and Japan ’s law enforcement bodies.

In the future, Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security hopes to continue strengthening the effective cooperation with the National Public Safety Commission and National Police Agency of Japan, especially in sharing information and experience in preventing and combating organised and trans-national crime, as well as cyber crime.

Besides, the sides should also enhance coordination in personnel training, fire fighting and rescue, contributing to ensuring security and order in both countries and further boosting the bilateral strategic partnership.

Highly valuing the cooperation outcomes between the two sides over the past years, especially in preventing and fighting organised and trans-national crime and terrorism, Furuya said he hopes to continue developing the cooperation with Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security in areas of mutual concern.

The two sides agreed to apply specific measures to further deepen cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Japan ’s National Public Safety Commission and National Police Agency.

During the visit, Quang and his delegation visited the Tokyo Traffic Management Centre and met with leaders of the Society for Promotion of Japanese Diplomacy (SPJD) and the Japan Cultural Exchange Association.-VNA
