Representatives from Vietnamese and Japanese ministries and branches discussed macro-economic reform and human resource development at a seminar in Hanoi on Oct. 24.

The event was coorganised by the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

In an effort to help Vietnam improve its production capacity, JICA will focus on personnel training to meet demands of production sectors.

The two sides also agreed to continue cooperation in technical transfer and support science and technology universities in working as a bridge between Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises.

Takeshi Hachimura, Deputy Chief of the Cabinet Secretariat of Japan raised financial proposals to assist Vietnam in building development policies.

He pointed out the imbalance between saving, investment and consumption, which, he said, has existed in Vietnam for a long time meanwhile the country has no expert who can thoroughly understand the domestic financial activities.

The delegates at the seminar underlined the need for Vietnam to modernise monetary transactions and enhance management./.
