Vietnam joins diplomat sports in Russia

The Vietnamese embassy in Russia has sent over 40 athletes, including its staff, to a winter sports tournament held by the Russian Diplomacy Service in Moscow on January 30.
The Vietnamese embassy in Russia has sent over 40 athletes, including its staff, to a winter sports tournament held by the Russian Diplomacy Service in Moscow on January 30.

The tournament drew some 350 athletes from 13 diplomatic corps in Russia to compete in eight events, including skiing, mini football, table tennis and snooker.

Acting Head of the Russian Diplomacy Service Victor Lyashkin said the 10 year-old tournament that takes place just two weeks before the Vancouver Winter Olympic 2010 aimed to strengthen relations between the diplomatic corps in Russia .

The organising board has added games for children such as shooting, archery, rope throwing and darts matches into the event.

The Vietnamese delegation won a gold in in-house golf./.
