Vietnam jumps 10 places in ICT Development Index

Vietnam ranks 81 st among 152 countries in the International Telecommunication Union’s ICT Development Index (IDI), moving up 10 places from its 91 st position in 2008, the Ministry of Information and Communication said on Sept. 26.

According to theITU’s report Measuring the Information Society 2011, Vietnam ’s IDIvalue increases from 2.76 in 2008 to 3.53 in 2010.

The result is spurred by the growth in the use sub-index, reflecting thefact that broadband internet subscribers in the country rose from zeroin 2008 to 13 per 100 residents in 2010.

In addition, Vietnam jumped 16 places up in the ranking of the access sub-index compared to 2008.

The country was at the third place among ten countries having thehighest IDI growth rate during the 2008-2010 period after Armenia andMorocco. /.

Quang Tri province mobilises resources for fisheries infrastructure

The provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to prepare an investment proposal for upgrading and expanding the Con Co storm shelter in Con Co special zone.
