Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and his Kazakhcounterpart, Yerzhan Kazhykhanov, has held the annual deputy foreignministerial level political consultation.
The consultation tookplace during the visit to Vietnam on April 6-7 by Kazakh DeputyForeign Minister Yerzhan Kazhykhanov, who was also chairman ofKazakhstan’s section in the Vietnam-Kazakhstan Inter-GovernmentalCommittee on Economic-Trade and Science-Technology Cooperation.
Thetwo sides informed each other of the situation in their respectivecountry. Deputy Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazhykhanov congratulated thesuccess of the 11th National Congress of the Communist Party ofVietnam.
Kazakhstan attaches importance to developingrelations with Vietnam, he said, adding that his country wants tocontinue strengthening the traditional friendship and multifacetedcooperation between the two countries as well as the close coordinationbetween the two foreign ministries.
Deputy FM Son congratulatedKazakhstan on its achievements in socio-economic development and thesuccessful organisation of the presidential election with there-election of Nazarbayev as President of Kazakhstan.
The twosides discussed international and regional issues of common concern,focused their discussion on measures to enhance coordination atinternational and regional fora, promote bilateral relations in thefields of economy-trade, especially cooperation in oil and gas,education-training, culture, tourism and cooperation between the twoforeign ministries.
They also dealt with preparations for the upcoming visit to Vietnam by the Kazakh President.
Vietnam acknowledged and pledged to consider favourably Kazakhstan’s request for support for its bid for a seat in the United NationsHuman Rights Council for the 2012-2015 term.
Vietnam askedKazakhstan to support Vietnam’s bid for a seat in the UN Human RightsCouncil for the 2013-2016 term and for non-permanent membership of theUN Security Council for the 2020-2021 term./.
