Vietnam keen to work with African countries

Vietnam has always attached a great deal of importance to development cooperation with Africa in food security, agriculture and poverty reduction.

Defence Minister General Phung QuangThanh stated this while receiving Joseph Kiticki Kouamba, theMinister-Diplomatic Advisor to the Presidency of the Central AfricanRepublic (CAR), in Hanoi on August 19.

MinisterThanh briefed his guest of Vietnam ’s experiences in building up itsarmed forces during its process of national industrialisation andmodernisation.

The Vietnamese army is a key elementin consolidating and building a strong national defence whilecontributing to national economic development, he said.

The force has also helped to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty inremote and mountainous areas, responding to natural disasters andimproving people’s living conditions, he added.

Kouambasaid that a military delegation from the CAR is expected to be sent toVietnam to learn from the Southeast Asian country’s experiences./.

In particular, the Politburo recently issued Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW on overseas Vietnamese affairs, General Secretary and President To Lam, emphasising that in the time ahead, the Party and State will continue to improve institutions, and adopt comprehensive, open and breakthrough mechanisms and policies to connect with, attract and effectively mobilise the resources of overseas Vietnamese, particularly intellectuals, experts, entrepreneurs, scientists and young people.
