Hoa Binh (VNA) – A delegation from Laos’ Houaphan province visited the northwestern province of Hoa Binh on January 18 to strengthen cooperation.


The same day, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Bui Van Tinh hosted a reception for the Lao guests during which the two sides briefed each other on their socio-economic development in 2016.

Houaphan province recorded a moderate growth and has potential in hydroelectric power, mining and animal husbandry.  Meanwhile, Hoa Binh boasts strengths in agro-fishery-forestry, construction materials and eco-tourism, with an economic growth of 7.62 percent last year.

The localities agreed to foster their friendship and collaboration based on mutual respect and equality in line with the laws and policies of both countries.

They will step up relations in the fields of education, health, trade, investment, agriculture and tourism.

During the visit, the Lao delegation visited a historical relic site where the preparatory meeting for the second Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party took place.-VNA
