Vietnam and Laos have agreed to continue building a strategy on cooperation in economics, culture, education, industry, agriculture and forestry focusing on human resources development.

The agreement was reached between Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung and his Lao counterpart Somvasat Lengsavad at their meeting in Hanoi on October 30.

The two deputy PMs reached unanimity in facilitating the cultivation of industrial crops and rubber trees in Laos by joint ventures of the two countries.

Deputy PM Hung said the close coordination between the two countries’ ministries, branches and localities in implementing agreements has effectively benefited both peoples.

The Deputy PM also emphasised the need to increase the pace of construction on building road 2E (the Meuangkhua-Tay Trang section connecting northern Lao provinces with Vietnam ’s northwest and Dien Bien provinces), saying that the strategic path has an important role in socio-economic development and security and defence of the two regions.

Deputy PM Somvasat Lengsavad took the occasion to thank Vietnam for its help to Laos in different fields, especially in preparing infrastructural facilities for the 25th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games to be held in Laos./.
