The Government Committee on Religious Affairs and the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) have inked a cooperation agreement for 2014-2020, allowing them to further their partnership in religious affairs.

Under the agreement, signed in Hanoi on July 8 as part of a six-day visit from July 7 of the LFNC delegation led by Vice Chairman Kenta Kongbounmy, the two sides will foster coordination in personnel training through the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Cooperation mechanism.

They will also do more to popularise the Vietnam-Laos special friendship, traditional solidarity and comprehensive partnership.

Symposiums will help seek to enhance the efficiency of religious management, contributing to ensuring the independence and stability in each country and the region.

During a working session on the day with Deputy Head of the Vietnamese Government Committee on Religious Affairs Bui Thanh Ha, the two sides reviewed their partnership since it was set up in 2002.

The first agreement on religious affairs inked in June 2007 has facilitated the delegation exchange and the organisation of training courses for LFNC officials.

Both host and guest also agreed that religious work in both countries has been improved practically.

During their stay in Vietnam until July 12, the Lao delegation will be received by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

They are scheduled to meet representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee and visit a number of religious facilities in northern Bac Ninh and Quang Ninh provinces.-VNA
