The central province of Thua Thien-Hue has completed the upgrading of the marker system along the Vietnam-Laos border section in the locality, nearly two years ahead of schedule.
According to the provincial border demarcation and marker planting steering board, in the first six months of the year, the province, in coordination with its neighbouring Lao provinces of Salavan and Sekong, built the last five remaining markers - No. 654, 655, 656, 664 and 675.
In the coming time, the two sides’ relevant units will build embankments protecting markers No. 639, 664 and 658. The local government plans to boost educational campaigns on border demarcation and marker planting results and complete the legal dossiers for the marker system and hand them over to the border guard force./.
