Vietnam, Laos cooperate in archives

Vietnam and Laos signed three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in Vientiane on August 21 to draw up cooperation plans in the archives area in 2011 and the 2011-2015 period.
Vietnam and Laos signed three memorandums of understanding (MoUs)in Vientiane on August 21 to draw up cooperation plans in thearchives area in 2011 and the 2011-2015 period.

Signatories were Vu Thi Minh Huong, head of the State Department forRecords and Archive of Vietnam and Oun kham L.Southivong, head of theLaos National Archive Department.

Under the MoUs, both sideshighlighted the results of implementing cooperation plans in the recentpast and agreed to work closely to put into operation the NationalArchives Centre in Vientiane in the first quarter of 2011.

In addition, Vietnam will continue to help Laos in personneltraining, transfer of technologies and management of the centre.

The two sides will also ask their governments for permissions toexchange a list of documents related to the history of both countriesand continue to exchange documents on archive skills, and relatedinformation and activities./.

Thanking President Ndayishimiye and the Burundi Government for supporting the effective operation of Lumitel, the telecommunications joint venture of Vietnam’s Viettel Group in Burundi, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung proposed that Burundi continue facilitating Lumitel’s participation in e-government and digital transformation projects, while enabling it to expand investment and business activities, making it a symbol of bilateral cooperation.
