Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court Truong Hoa Binh has expressed hope that the Supreme People’s Courts of Vietnam and Laos will continue to strengthen cooperation and share experience in judgment.

At talks with his Lao counterpart Khamphanh Sitthidampha in Hanoi on December 25, Binh noted that the long traditional cooperation between the two court sectors have been consolidated and developed over years.

Most recently, a delegation of judges and officials of the Lao Supreme People’s Court attended a short training course in Vietnam in August.

Also in 2012, the Vietnamese government provided 1 billion VND for a project to help improve the capacity of the court sector of Laos.

The two supreme people’s courts are expected to jointly organise a training course for Lao judges and court staff in Laos from January 10-15, 2013 .

Chief Judge of the Lao Supreme People’s Court Khamphanh Sitthidampha said he hopes that the two courts will continue to exchange delegations and work together in training human resources for the Lao side.

After the talks, the delegation of the Lao Supreme People’s Court, on behalf of the Lao State, presented Laos’ Orders to several individuals and units of the Vietnam Supreme People’s Court, including five second-class Issara Orders, six third-class Issara Orders and two Friendship Orders. -VNA
