Son La (VNA)– The second culture, sports and tourism festival of the Vietnam-Laosborder areas wrapped up in the northern mountainous province of Son La on July7 evening.

The three-day event aimed to mark the55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos, and the 40thanniversary of the signing of the bilateral Treaty on Amity and Cooperation,along with saluting the Year of the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship2017.

Visitors were thrilled at diverse activities, including games, and theintroduction of signature farm produce as well as distinctive cultural andtourist products of bordering localities of Vietnam and Laos.

Pham Van Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Son La provincial People’s Committee, spokeat the closing ceremony that the festival did help preserve and promotecultural values of localities lying along the shared border and cement thetraditional friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

Vietnam’s provinces bordering Laos include Dien Bien and Son La in the north,Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue and QuangNam in the central region and the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum. - VNA
