Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association President Vu Trong Kim led a delegation to visit Laos to further promote ties between the two countries from Dec. 9-15.

On Dec. 10, the Vietnamese delegation had a working session with a delegation of Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association, headed by its President Somkot Mangnomek, where they reviewed friendship activities over the past two years following their memoranda.

Over the past two years, the two associations organised numerous activities celebrating major events of the two countries. The events included exchanges of Vietnamese former voluntary soldiers and experts returning to Laos and Lao officials’ visit to Vietnam on the celebration of the 100 th anniversary of Lao President Souphanouvong.

The two associations pledged to continue efforts boosting cooperation between the two countries in economy, politics, culture, sports, science and technology.

The same day, the Vietnamese delegation was received by President of the Lao Front for National Construction Sisavath Keobouphanh and Chairman of the National Assembly Thongsing Thammavong.

For 2010, the two sides plan to hold numerous activities including the celebration of the 35 th anniversary of victory over the US Empire, the 65 th National day of Vietnam and 35 th National Day of Laos, the 120 th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, the 90 th birthday of President Kaysone Phomvihane, the millennial anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, the 450 th founding anniversary of Vientiane, the 80 th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 55 th anniversary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party./.
