Vietnam, Laos enhance military cooperation

High-ranking military officers of Vietnam and Laos have reviewed the implementation of cooperation programmes between the two countries’ armies at talks in Hanoi on October 17.

During their talks, General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister, and Lieutenant General Suvon Loungbunmi, Chief of the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister, discussed affiliation between the two general staffs and shared issues.

General Ty welcomed the current working visit to Vietnam by the Lao high-ranking delegation led by Lt. Gen. Suvon Loungbunmi, saying it would help foster traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between two countries and armies.

Lt. Gen. Suvon Loungbunmi, who is leading a high-ranking Lao delegation, is on a visit to Vietnam from October 14-19 at the invitation of Gen. Do Ba Ty.

During his stay, Lt. Gen. Suvon Loungbunmi is scheduled to attend ceremonies marking of the 70th founding anniversary of Military Region 2, 4 and 5 and present the Lao government’s order to the military units.-VNA
