Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on July 24 met with Lao Minister of Science and Technology Boviengkham Vongdara, who is paying a working visit to Vietnam from July 20-26.

Boviengkham Vongdara, who is also President of the Lao National Science Council, briefed his host about outcomes of the meetings between his delegation with a number of Vietnam’s ministries and agencies.

The cooperation in science and technology between Vietnam and Laos has developed fruitfully, the Lao minister said.

He expressed hope that the two sides will continue to exchange information and experience, especially research that can be applied in everyday life, contributing to the technological transfer for useful each country’s socio-economic development.

He stressed the need for the two countries to enhance cooperation in human resource development, especially science-technology managers and post-graduate lecturers.

Sharing Boviengkham Vongdara’s views, Phuc said the two countries need to select suitable training methods to provide higher returns.

The Vietnamese Deputy PM expressed his delight at the outcomes of recent cooperation between the two sides, affirming the Vietnamese Government’s support for cooperation plans between the two ministries of science and technology.

It is necessary for the two sides to promote the transfer of technology and scientific application of production at localities, especially those located along the border, with the aim of raising people’s living standards, Phuc said.-VNA
