The event was to mark the 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, attracting many Vietnamese and Lao people who work at the UN or in New York City .
On addressing the ceremony, Laos’ Ambassador, Saleumxay Kommasith and Vietnam’s Ambassador, Le Hoai Trung praised the two countries’ traditional ties over the 50 years, adding that their special relationship needs to be constantly developed in the future.
Ambassador Le Hoai Trung thanked the Lao people for their warm welcome and he said he hoped that the friendship between the two countries will last forever.
At the exchange, participants played sports and sang songs in praise of the excellent relations between Vietnam-Laos while sampling a selection of culinary specialities from both nations.-VNA
