Officials and people in the northern provinces of Laos should proactively share experiences with Vietnamese counterparts to help reduce and eventually eradicate poverty, thus improving the special solidarity and friendship between the two countries.

Lao Prime Minister Thongsinh Thammavong made the suggestion at a reception for a high-ranking delegation from Vietnam ’s northern province of Vinh Phuc, led by provincial Party Committee Secretary Pham Van Vong, on a working visit to Laos from January 7 to 11.

The Lao PM highly appreciated the valuable support that Vinh Phuc province has given to Luang Namtha and other northern provinces of Laos , especially in the areas of human resources training and infrastructure.

The Vinh Phuc delegation held a number of working sessions with provincial representatives from northern Laos in a bid to seek investment and cooperation opportunities.

At a session with Luang Namtha province, the two sides committed to creating favourable conditions for businesses to boost investment in their respective localities.

The two sides also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to share their experiences in socio-economic and cultural development as well as Party and Government building.

The guests pledged to continue supporting higher education and vocational training, and assisting the construction of a 500,000 USD conference centre for Luang Namtha residents.

The host vowed to facilitate training for Vinh Phuc students in Laos, and will dispatch a high-raking delegation to the Tourism-Culture Week to be held in Vinh Phuc this year.-VNA
