NA Chairman meets Lao PM in Hanoi

The Vietnamese legislature will continue to coordinate with its Lao counterpart in perfecting the legal framework, supervising the implementation of bilateral cooperation agreements, and promoting joint initiatives at regional parliamentary forums, contributing to realising the goals of the two countries, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said.

Hanoi (VNA) - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on the sidelines of the 4th Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit in Hanoi on April 16.

Man stressed that the PM’s attendance at the summit demonstrates the Lao Government's support for Vietnam's organisation as well as coordination and sharing of experience in responding to climate change, reducing emissions, green growth, and transforming the growth model.

The NA Chairman congratulated Laos on its great achievements in socio-economic development and lauded its efforts to achieve sustainable development goals.

Man said he firmly believes that the country will gain more successes, contributing to prosperity in ASEAN. He also emphasised the highest priority the Vietnamese Party, State, and people give to the special relationship between the two countries.

Reflecting on Laos’ efforts to streamline its apparatus and improve the effectiveness of state management, Man said Vietnam is ready to share its experience in this regard.

For his part, Sonexay Siphandone affirmed that the Lao Party, State, Government and people always attach importance to and give the top priority to consolidating and enhancing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam. He proposed that Vietnam continue to share experience in amending and supplementing a number of articles of its Constitution, law-making, stabilising the macro-economy, and building an independent and self-reliant economy. The leader agreed to continue to resolutely direct Lao ministries and agencies to implement the recently reached agreements to strengthen cooperation in all fields, focusing on creating new changes in economic, cultural, educational, health, and scientific and technological cooperation; improving the effectiveness of investment ties; and completing important collaboration projects.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese chief legislator extended Bunpimay New Year greetings to Party General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane, and other high-ranking leaders and people of Laos. /.
