Vietnam and Laos repatriated almost 500 sets of remains of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who laid down their lives during the war in Laos in the 2010-2011 dry season.

This information was released at a seminar hosted by the Special Working Committees of the Vietnamese and Lao governments in the central city of Da Nang on July 18.

The two sides aim to gather about 500 more sets of remains of martyrs in the 2011-2012 dry season.

A report of the Ministry of National Defence said that it has obtained information on nearly 1,500 tombs of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers in Laos.

At the event, Vietnam’s provincial People’s Committees presented awards to 13 teams and 53 individuals who scored outstanding achievements in supplying accurate information on tombs of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers in Lao provinces./.
