Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the National Assembly’s Commi​ttee for External Relations Nguyen Van Giau hosted a reception in Hanoi on August 19 for Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Xieng Khouang province in Laos Bountone Chanthaphone.

Giau congratulated the success of the 10th Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the elections of the eighth NA and the deputies to the municipal and provincial People’s Councils.

Speaking highly of Laos’ law-making achievements, especially the adoption of the amended Constitution 2015, the host expressed his belief that the Lao NA will continue making important contributions to realising the Resolution adopted by the 10th National Party Congress and the eighth five-year socio-economic development scheme.

He hailed the exchange of visits by Vietnamese and Lao border provinces, including Nghe An and Xieng Khouang, saying that it will help facilitate experience sharing and bolster comprehensive partnership between the two countries.

Chanthaphone, for his part, said his visit is to learn from Vietnam’s experience in organising the activities of the People’s Councils, and wished that the Vietnamese legislature and localities will continue assisting Laos in this field.

Pathways to double-digit growth to be tabled at 16th NA’s first session

In the morning sitting on April 20, deputies are expected to hear proposals and verification reports on a range of draft resolutions. The documents cover breakthrough mechanisms and policies for the development of Vietnamese culture; the establishment of Dong Nai as a centrally run city; a pilot framework for public lawyer institution; and special mechanisms to address land law violations committed prior to the 2024 Land Law taking effect, alongside measures to resolve long-delayed and stalled projects.

NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man’s working trip to Italy and Türkiye achieved important and comprehensive results at both bilateral and multilateral levels.
