Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has suggested that Vietnam’s Government Committee on Religious Affairs and the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) enhance their cooperation in religious affairs in the coming time.

During his reception for the LFNC delegation led by Vice Chairman Kenta Kongbounmy in Hanoi on July 8, Phuc spoke highly of the outcomes of the talks between the two agencies, and the signing of a cooperation agreement among them for 2014-2020.

He said that the recent effective cooperation between the two sides contributed to further strengthening the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and States, expressing his hope that the LFNC will continue working to foster the special relations between the two countries.

Phuc also affirmed that Vietnam will help train Lao personnel working in religious affairs in university and postgraduate education.

Kongbounmy informed the host about the results of cooperation between his agency and the Vietnamese Government Committee on Religious Affairs in recent years, and of Laos’s socio-economic development in the first half of 2014.

Earlier the same day, the LFNC and Vietnam’s Government Committee on Religious Affairs signed a cooperation agreement which will allow them to further their partnership in religious affairs.

Under the agreement, the two sides will foster coordination in human resources training through the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Cooperation mechanism.-VNA
