Vietnam and Laos have agreed to step up legal and judicial partnership, and expand the bilateral cooperation in the field to multilateral frameworks with diverse and practical affiliation forms.

The agreement was reach during the talks between Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong and his Lao counterpart Chaluern Ziapaoher in Vientiane on July 28, as part of the former’s visit to Laos from July 27-31.

The two sides reached consensus on strengthening the exchange of delegations and fostering cooperation in personnel training.

They will also share experience in providing conciliation services at grassroots level and the management of resident registration at both central and local levels, especially in localities along the shared border.

Both sides expressed pleasure about the outcomes of cooperation agreements and programmes between the two ministries for the 2012-2014 period, particularly in delegation exchange and training.

Local judicial departments and civil judgment implementation agencies of both sides have worked closely and effectively, they commented.

At the same time, Vietnamese and Laos authorities along the shared border have also coordinated with each other in settling outstanding issues, including those related to nationality, migration, unlicenced marriage in border areas, they added.-VNA
