Hanoi (VNA) – The CentralCommittees of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) and the LaoPeople’s Revolutionary Youth Union (LPRYU) discussed coordination directionsduring talks in Hanoi on September 6.
The talks took place amid the 55th foundinganniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962) and 40years of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July18, 1977).
First Secretary of the HCMCYU Central CommitteeLe Quoc Phong said coordination in the youth unions’ work and youth- andchildren-related activities such as youth-to-youth exchanges, experiencesharing and economic development have generated encouraging outcomes.
He lauded the LPRYU’s fruitful performance indifferent aspects, noting that the HCMCYU Central Committee will learn from theLao union’s experience in organising political activities to raise youngpeople’s political awareness.
The Vietnamese youth are eager to visit Laos’historical and revolutionary relic sites where Lao revolutionary leaders usedto live and work. They also want to learn more about the land and people ofLaos, he noted, adding that the Vietnam Young Business Association and theVietnam Youth Federation are working to have a better understanding of Laos’investment climate.
Phong voiced his belief that with the twocentral committees’ resolve, the Vietnamese and Lao youth unions willcoordinate well to attain substantive results, helping to bolster theircountries’ traditional solidarity, friendship and cooperation.
Echoing his Vietnamese counterpart’s view,Secretary of the LPRYU Central Committee Sonethanou Thammavong said his union willcontinue activities under the cooperation agreement with the HCMCYU CentralCommittee.
He asked both sides to promote solidarity andcooperation and work together to build exhibition centres dedicated toVietnamese and Lao leaders.
Phong affirmed that the youth unions willcontinue discussing the implementation of cooperation activities. They willalso introduce books on the life and career of late Presidents Ho Chi Minh andKaysone Phomvihane to young people of the two countries in the time ahead.-VNA
