Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Railway Corporation’s Railway Transport and Trade JSC (Ratraco) on November 30 launched the first container train to China from Yen Vien station in Hanoi.

The train transports 20 containers carrying coal, ore and electronic products to Nanning city of China’s Guangxi province. After the first trip, Ratraco and its Chinese partner will operate the route with fixed itinerary initially in every Tuesday and Thursday, and then expectedly every day.

Earlier on November 29, Yen Vien station welcomed a container train from Nanning city, with travel time of 20 hours excluding time for customs procedure clearance.

The train carried refrigerated containers with new technology, which is expected to meet the demand of transporting frozen goods between the two countries and ease overload in border gates.

The launch of Yen Vien-Nanning container trains is part of the railway transport cooperation plan between the two countries. The two sides have also worked on the launch of trains from other Chinese localities to Vietnam, facilitating goods exchange with lower transport prices, and creating favourable conditions for the shipment of Vietnamese products to Central Asia, Russia, and Europe through the Chinese territory.-VNA
