Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam topped the Southeast Asian Shooting Association Championship (SEASA) 2016’s senior competition with 13 golds, 10 silvers and five bronzes.

It was followed by Indonesia, with nine golds, four silvers and two bronzes and Malaysia with four golds and six silvers.

The SEASA closed at the Hanoi National Sports Training Centre on November 11 after ten days of competition.

In the young games, Vietnam shooters also led others, with 10 gold, eight silver and three bronze medals. Thailand came in second with four golds, six silvers and five bronzes and Malaysia, third with four golds and two bronzes.

This year’s event was participated by 252 athletes and coaches from nine countries and territories, including Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau and host Vietnam.

Shooters competed in 18 categories for both men and women and made 31 new Southeast Asian records.

The annual SEASA allowed shooters to sharpen their skills before the upcoming SEA Games, regional and international tournaments.

Vietnam’s shooting team has gained many achievements in regional and international competitions in recent years. Shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh made history by earning Vietnam’s first Olympic gold at Rio 2016.-VNA
