The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) will continue directing Vietnamese localities and companies to bolster investment and trade cooperation with Cambodian counterparts, including Siem Reap province, to foster development in the respective countries and deepen bilateral relations.

Politburo member and Standing member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat Le Hong Anh made the remarks at his meeting with Siem Reap Governor Khim Bun Song in the northwest Cambodian province on June 10.

He highlighted the collaboration between Siem Reap and Vietnamese localities, especially Ho Chi Minh City and Hue and Da Nang cities, while expressing delight at the rapid and firm development of Siem Reap.

He said he hopes the provincial committee of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), authorities and people will continue joint efforts to build Siem Reap into an economic and cultural hub of the country, ultimately contributing to peace, national harmony and development.

The official also thanked Siem Reap for working closely with Vietnam to seek and repatriate remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and create optimal conditions for the Vietnamese community there.

For his part, Governor Khim Bun Song congratulated Vietnam on its attainments in domestic and foreign affairs and thanked the country for helping Cambodia escape from the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime and in its development.

He emphasised that provincial authorities will further educate locals, especially the youth, about the time-honoured friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the CPV and CPP as well as between the nations.
