Vietnamese Ambassador to Malta Nguyen Duc Long has presented his credentials to Malta President George Abela, telling his host that he will focus on strengthening the cooperation between both countries in key fields of economics, trade, tourism and education during his tenure of office.

At a reception after the presentation on December 6, Long forwarded Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang’s regards to Abela, affirming that he will do his utmost to deepen the bilateral ties between the two countries.

He briefed his host on Vietnam’s achievements in socio-economy and international integration over the past years, as well as the country’s strategies and goals in the coming time.

Congratulating Long on his new position, Abela expressed his delight at the sound development of the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries over the past years, affirming that relevant agencies of his country are willing to support Long to fulfill his tasks.

Two-way trade between Vietnam and Malta remains modest at about 1 million USD per annum. Currently, the two sides are preparing for the negotiations of a double-taxation avoidance agreement.-VNA
