Vietnam, Mexico look to stronger trade ties

Vietnam and Mexico have vowed to further promote multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries in the time to come for the benefit of the two peoples.

The pledge was made byDeputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh and Mexican seniorofficials, including Undersecretary of Commerce and Trade IgnacioNavarro Zermano and Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee for theAsia-Pacific, Senator Teofilo Torres Corzo during the former’s visit tothe Latin American country from April 15-17.

Anhsuggested Mexico soon recognise Vietnam as a market economy andestablish the Inter-Governmental Joint Committee to direct bilateraleconomic, trade and investment links.

He alsorecommended the signing of a framework agreement on trade andinvestment, thus providing all possible favourable conditions for thetwo countries’ enterprises.

The Mexican side agreed with Vietnam ’s above-mentioned proposals.

Theyunderscored the importance of Vietnam , an emerging economy in theAsia-Pacific, to which the Mexican Government is striving to take acloser approach.

The host leaders also hailedVietnam ’s great achievements in national construction, especially inpoverty reduction in combination with social policies and environmentalprotection.

During the visit, Anh and his entouragetoured historical and cultural sites, and visited the VietnameseEmbassy in Mexico City before paying a working visit to Panama on April17.-VNA

Party official, JICA President discuss expanding leadership training cooperation

Vietnam suggested JICA continue implementing a leadership capacity-building project for 2026–2028, aligned with Vietnam’s development priorities and four new pillars of bilateral cooperation - AI, digital transformation, smart cities and high-tech infrastructure; high-quality human resource development and institutional reform; green and circular economy development and disaster prevention; and social welfare, health care, elderly care and private-sector development.
