Vietnam and Mongolia should promote economic cooperation for mutual development and improvement of people’s life, said State President Nguyen Minh Triet.

President Triet made the statement while receiving the Head of the Mongolian Presidential Office, Dashjamts Battulga, in Hanoi on November 25.

The State leader applauded Dashjamts Battulga’s visit, saying that it greatly helped accelerate the Vietnam-Mongolia relationship.

He said he was pleased with developments in the bilateral ties with the signing of several high-level agreements and the implementation of specific measures to boost economic cooperation.

For his part, Dashjamts Battulga affirmed that Mongolia wished to strengthen relations with ASEAN nations, particularly Vietnam .

Mongolia highly valued the position and role of Vietnam in the region, especially after its successes in the year it assumed the ASEAN Chair 2010, he said.

He stressed that President Triet’s official visit to Mongolia in October 2008 created new momentum for the two countries’ relationship, especially in economics, trade, education and health.

At the 14 th session of the Vietnam-Mongolia Inter-governmental Committee on Economic, Trade and Scientific-Technological Cooperation, the two countries set out many measures to expand bilateral ties, he said.

Earlier, the Mongolian guest held talks with the Head of the Vietnamese State Presidential Office Nguyen Van Chien, during which the two sides put forward plans to strengthen their future cooperation.

At the end of the talks, a cooperative agreement between the Presidential Offices of Vietnam and Mongolia was signed./.
