The Vietnam News Agency’s “Fund for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin (AO)” has granted 10 houses to AO victims in 10 cities and provinces nationwide, as contribution towards Day for Vietnam AO/dioxin Victims (Aug. 10).

Under the house building programme started in 2010, another 41 houses for AO victims are due for construction in the near future.

The fund also granted gifts worth a total of 100 million VND to more than 120 victims in 18 cities and provinces across the country and presented three wheelchairs to three victims in Hanoi .

Since its inception in 2006, the Vietnam News Agency’s fund has become a prestigious address for domestic and foreign philanthropists, in order to help the needy, the disabled, heroic Vietnamese mothers and poor students, who record outstanding achievements in studies throughout the country.

With 4.78 billion VND and various items, it has handed over breeding cows, dentistry equipment and computers to AO victims and their children, and offered support to a number of charitable groups as well.

Articles to raise public awareness of the consequences of AO/dioxin in Vietnam are also published regularly through the Vietnam News Agency’s printed and online publications.-VNA
