Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) will focus on disseminating the Party and State policies, guidelines and laws on women and gender equality as part of a communication programme inked with the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) in Hanoi on July 6.

VNA Director General Nguyen Duc Loi asked the VWU to promptly provide sufficient information on such sensitive matters relating to the legitimate rights and interests of women and children as trafficking, sexual abuse, and dismissal of women at industrial parks to press agencies, including the VNA, to have accurate and high-quality works.

The agency will produce articles on significant events and operational orientations of the VWU in the 2017-2022 tenure such as protecting the legitimate rights and interests of women and encouraging the whole society to take care of women, he added.

VWU President Nguyen Thi Thu Ha said the VNA has accompanied the VWU in all activities over the past time. Particularly, at the 12th National Women’s Congress, the VNA published a lot of stories and reports highlighting the union’s remarkable achievements.

The union will increase the provision of information reflecting the aspirations of women in remote and industrial areas for the VNA to promptly detect any actions that harm the legitimate rights and interests of women, she added.

The State-owned VNA is a major news agency in Southeast Asia with more than 1,300 reporters and editors, and a network of representative offices in all 63 cities and provinces of Vietnam and 30 in foreign countries.-VNA
