Vietnam, Norway enhance cooperative ties

Norwegian King Harald V expressed his belief in the further development of bilateral relations between Norway and Vietnam while receiving Vietnamese Ambassador Ta Van Thong who presented his credentials at the Royal Palace in the capital city of Oslo on March 18.

King Harald highlighted Vietnam ’sachievements in socio-economic development during the renewal andintegration process as well as its high economic growth rates even inthe context of the global financial and economic crisis.

He recalled his good impression and fine sentiments towards Vietnameseland and people during his visit to Vietnam in 2004 and his meetingswith President Nguyen Minh Triet who visited Norway in 2008.

He said he was delighted at the fine development of the Norway-Vietnam friendship and
multi-faceted cooperation, especially the official re-opening of theVietnamese embassy in Norway in December 2009 after 27 years ofinterruption.

Ambassador Thong conveyed best regards from President Nguyen Minh Triet and his wife to King Harald and Queen Sonja.

The Vietnamese diplomat thanked the King for his fine sentimentstowards Vietnamese people as well as the Norwegian Government andpeople for their effective assistance to the past struggles fornational independence and reunification and its current renewalprocess, development and integration.

He said he will do his utmost to contribute to the implementation ofthe agreements reached between the two countries’ leaders to furtherconsolidate and develop the friendship and multi-faceted cooperationbetween the two countries./.

According to historical records, the area once served as an operational base for units of Regiments 609, 66, 24 and 320, as well as staff and logistics agencies of the Central Highlands front (B3) during the 1966–1969 period. Between 2020 and 2025, the corps had already recovered remains from 46 martyrs in the Chu Pa mountain area.
