Norwegian King Harald V expressed his belief in the further development of bilateral relations between Norway and Vietnam while receiving Vietnamese Ambassador Ta Van Thong who presented his credentials at the Royal Palace in the capital city of Oslo on March 18.

King Harald highlighted Vietnam ’s achievements in socio-economic development during the renewal and integration process as well as its high economic growth rates even in the context of the global financial and economic crisis.

He recalled his good impression and fine sentiments towards Vietnamese land and people during his visit to Vietnam in 2004 and his meetings with President Nguyen Minh Triet who visited Norway in 2008.

He said he was delighted at the fine development of the Norway-Vietnam friendship and
multi-faceted cooperation, especially the official re-opening of the Vietnamese embassy in Norway in December 2009 after 27 years of interruption.

Ambassador Thong conveyed best regards from President Nguyen Minh Triet and his wife to King Harald and Queen Sonja.

The Vietnamese diplomat thanked the King for his fine sentiments towards Vietnamese people as well as the Norwegian Government and people for their effective assistance to the past struggles for national independence and reunification and its current renewal process, development and integration.

He said he will do his utmost to contribute to the implementation of the agreements reached between the two countries’ leaders to further consolidate and develop the friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries./.
