The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) and the Norway Confederation of Trade Unions (NCTU) have inked a cooperation deal for the 2010-2014 period to boost relations.

The document was signed during talks between VGCL Chairman Dang Ngoc Tung and NCTU President Roar Flathen in Hanoi on Oct. 13.

Chairman Tung said that the VGCL is working on the revised law on trade unions.

It has also joined the country’s efforts to overcome the impacts of the
global economic crisis to maintain sustainable growth of the economy, ensure social security and job creation.

President Roar Flathen praised VGCL’s contributions to the national development, affirming that his organisation always considers the VGCL its important partner.

The two sides also exchanged experiences on the implementation of trade union activities and measures to protect labourers’ rights and interests.

On the occasion, the VGCL presented President Roar Flathen and NCTU senior advisor Diis Bohn insignias in recognition of their contributions to developing Vietnam ’s trade unions./.
