Vietnam on world’s top 5 in global trade connectedness

Vietnam was listed on the world’s top 5 countries in global trade connectedness, according to the DHL Global Connectedness Index 2021 (GCI 2021) report which was jointly released by the US New York University Stern School of Business and Germany-based DHL Logistics Company.

In a special report on the 10th anniversary of the DHL Global Connectedness Index, the report highlighted Vietnam, together with Mexico, the Netherlands, Sierra Leone, the United Arab Emirate have stood out for their strong or rising connectedness over the past two decades.

The index measures globalization based on international trade, capital, information, and people flows. The index encompasses more than 3.5 million data points on country-to-country flows over the period from 2001 to 2020.

The overall ranking of Vietnam in the global connectedness index was 38 among 169 countries and territories, up one place from 2017./.
