Vietnam won one gold and two silver medals from the Singapore Open Track and Field Championship which closed on Aug. 21.

The Vietnamese gold medalist was Do Thi Thao, who triumphed in the women's 800m race with a time of 2:09.18.

Thao, who pocketed a bronze medal from the 25th Southeast Asian Games in Laos two years ago, beat out three strong rivals – Dell Salome, Koniel Donna and Tine Tuna – from Papua New Guinea to top the podium.

Nguyen Van Ly took silver in the men's 5,000m, clocking 15:19.56. He was behind Filipino Sore Hernani who timed 15:10.00. Earlier, Ly finished second in the 1,500m with a time of 4:02.98. Mehendran Vadivellan of Malaysia , who was the first runner-up in the 25th SEA Games, snatched the gold with a time of 3:58.07./.
