Vietnam’s sports team on late June 26 will leave for the 4th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games slated to be held in Incheon, the Republic of Korea, from June 29 to July 6 this year.
The 159-member delegation including 102 athletes will compete in 11 out of 12 games in the event, which for the first time combines the Asian Indoor Games and the Asian Martial Arts Games.
Head of the delegation Lam Quang Thanh said at a farewell ceremony on June 22 in Ho Chi Minh City that Vietnam sets the target to rank among the 15 leading countries in the Games.
Among 12 games for competition, Vietnamese athletes have high hopes for medals in such games as chess, swimming, Muay and billiard snooker.
As a tournament held by the Olympic Council of Asia every four years, the 4th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games this year is expected to draw the participation of athletes from 45 countries and territories in Asia to compete for 100 sets of medals. -VNA
