Vietnam has lashed back British, US and European Union comments on recent trials against law violators as a lack of goodwill and interference into its internal affairs.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nguyen Phuong Nga emphasised in a statement on January 22 that Vietnam is a law-governed State. It pursues legal violations and threats to national security to preserve law and order in the interests of the entire society and for peace, stability and development.
“The arrests, investigations, trials and convictions of the defendants were just punishments in line with Vietnamese law as well as international regulations,” she said.
“It is regrettable that representatives from the UK, the US and the EU have made comments which betray a lack of goodwill on this issue, and an attempt to meddle in Vietnam ’s internal affairs,” the spokeswoman concluded.
