A 14-year-old boy in Chau Thanh district, Mekong Delta Tien Giang province was confirmed positive for A/H1N1 flu on June 15, raising the total number of H1N1 cases in Vietnam to 26.

Twenty-two cases were people returning from infected countries, while the remaining four locally caught the virus through contact with a patient.

Up to date, 13 patients recovered and have been discharged from hospitals.

The same day, Director of the National Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Nguyen Van Kinh, said that the first infected case in Hanoi has been recovered after five days under treatment and is expected to be discharged from hospital in 1-2 days. All his family members have tested negative to the virus.

As of June 15, there had been 29,669 cases of A/H1N1 flu recorded across 74 countries and territories, 145 of them have died. The pandemic continues its widespread in Canada, Japan and Spain.
