VIETRRO’s main goal is to stamp out photocopying of books and publication on the internet, without the author’s permission.
The organisation will legally represent those who have had their intellectual property rights infringed.
VIETRRO will also oversee the copying and digitisation of members’ works and protect their interests abroad.
Prof. Ho Ngoc Dai, director of the Institute of Educational Technology , was elected chairman of executive board, which has 19 members, up to 2015.
Nguyen Kiem, chairman of the Vietnam Publishing Association and vice chairman of VIETRRO, said foreign authors and publishers are reluctant to sell their work in Vietnam because of piracy.
There are about 16 million students at high schools and 1.5 million students at universities in the country, according to VIETRRO, who regularly copy material without the author’s consent./.
