Vietnam, RoK continue challenge US zeroing practice

Vietnam and the RoK will continue requesting the WTO to establish a panel on inquiring the use by the US of the "zeroing" practices in imposing anti-dumping measures on imports from the two countries.
Vietnam and the Republic of Korea will continue requesting the WTO’s Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) to establish a panel on inquiring the use by the US of the "zeroing" practices in imposing anti-dumping measures on imports from the two countries.

The WTO said that the two Asian nations made the second-time request on the establishment of a panel in the DSB’s agenda slated for May 18, adding that their first-time request was blocked by the US at the DSB’s conference on April 20.

According to the WTO’s regulations, the second-time request on the establishment of the panel will be rejected unless all WTO members at the conference rebuff which has never happened before in the WTO’s history.

Vietnam opposes the US imposition of anti-dumping tax on Vietnamese frozen shrimps, particularly the US Department of Commerce’s use of the zeroing practice in its administrative reviews despite the WTO had condemned the action.

This will be the first panel established under Vietnam’s request since the nation joined the WTO in January 2007./.
