Ministers of science and technology of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost bilateral cooperation in this field.
Addressing at the signing ceremony in Seoul in October 29, RoK Minister of Education, Science and Technology Lee Ju-Ho said that the two countries have made remarkable developments in science and technology cooperation.
The newly-signed MoU contributes significantly to a project to build a Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) – style institution in Vietnam as desired by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung when he visited the KIST earlier this year.
Appraising the host’s development in science and technology, visiting Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan said that Vietnam hopes to learn experience from RoK in developing the sector, which is considered as a driving force for economic growth.
In addition, Vietnam wants to establish a comprehensive cooperation with the RoK’s side in the coming time, especially in jointly conducting projects, building mechanisms and human resource training, Quan said.
Later, Quan and KIST Chairman Kil-Choo Moon signed an MoU on cooperation between Vietnam ’s Ministry of Science and Technology and the KIST.
Earlier on the same day, Quan attended a MoU signing ceremony between his ministry’s Centre of International Science and Technology Integration and the Korean Institute of Machinery and Materials.-VNA
