A joint Vietnam-Korean bio-diesel production plant was inaugurated in Yeochu city, Kyeonggi province, the Republic of Korea (RoK) on March 23.

Addressing a function to celebrate the inauguration of the project--a joint effort between the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry (VIIC), the RoK’s Hankyong University and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)--VIIC Director Mai Ngoc Chuc said the project has helped open a new pathway for Vietnam’s energy market.

The plant, which has a capacity of 200 tonnes per year, will produce bio-diesel from waste oil, animal fat, and palm and coconut oil, yielding a low-cost, environmentally-friendly product.

Under the deal, Vietnam will receive technology and production lines to build a bio-diesel plant with a projected capacity of 4,000 tonnes a year./.
