The relations between two legislative bodies of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea will further be developed, contributing to enhancing bilateral ties, said the Vietnamese top legislator.

Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong made the statement while meeting with RoK parliament speaker Park Hee-tae on the sidelines of the consultation of G20 parliamentary speakers in Ottawa on September 3.

Chairman Trong congratulated the RoK on hosting the G-20 Summit in November, expressing his belief that the RoK will fulfill its role as the host country and create its own imprint.

The Chairman thanked the RoK for its invitation to Vietnam to attend the event as ASEAN Chair, describing this a support for the southeast Asian country as the Chair of ASEAN and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

Speaker Park Hee-tae congratulated Vietnam on its development achievements, saying he believed that Vietnam will further prosper in the future.

Pleased with developments in bilateral ties, Chairman Trong said he hoped the two sides will continue to join hands and provide each other support at multilateral forums. He also called for the RoK parliament as an AIPA dialogue partner to support the Vietnamese National Assembly to fulfill its role as AIPA Chair, particularly in hosting the AIPA-31 General Assembly.

Chairman Trong affirmed the Vietnamese Party, State and people’s consistent policy of attaching importance to development of friendship and cooperation with the RoK for the benefit of the two peoples as well as for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The RoK speaker promised to promote bilateral relations, especially the ties between the two parliaments, and wished to see increase in exchange and cooperation in tourism between the two countries./.
